Sarabande is a riding academy with a unique approach to horsemanship. The focus is not only on the ancient art of riding, but the relationship built between the horse and rider through hands-on horsemanship. Each student- whether age 5 or 65- is responsible for taking care of their horse. The student tacks up and prepares their horse to ride, as well as untacking and putting their horse away after the lesson. The students are responsible for feeding, mucking and basic care for their horse. No longer are the horses just animals that they ride, but they become individuals with personalities that depend on these students.
We believe that the students are their own best teacher, and that they learn by doing and by experiencing. At Sarabande, we create a safe learning environment for the students to experience this self-reliance and independence. Sarabande specializes in American Saddlebreds and Hackney ponies.
